The price made me hesitant, but I decided to give Miracle-Gro for Christmas Trees a try after reading mixed reviews. I wasn't convinced that a simple plant food could significantly prolong my tree's life. However, after using it for nearly a month, I'm pleasantly surprised. My Douglas fir is still looking green and lush, with minimal needle drop compared to previous years when I only used water.
What I liked most was how easy it was to use – just one capful per quart of water added to the stand. No measuring or complicated instructions. But, I did find that I needed to check the water level more frequently than usual in the first week or so, as freshly cut trees do absorb water faster initially.

I don't know if it was just that my Balsam was exceptionally healthy, or that there was some Christmas magic involved, or God decided to cast down a wintry miracle, or if this product with regular watering did the trick. But it is now a year later and my tree has not fully died. We still have it up.I purchased my tree in mid-December of 2023. It was not to be the main tree for Christmas, but rather a tree to celebrate the solstice (I celebrate Christmas too, but use an artificial tree for that).

We went away for a week right before Christmas. I follow the instructions and added the correct amount to the water reservoir before we left. When we got back, not a single needle had fallen off of the tree! Even as we took it down I only had one dustpan with needles, very surprising!! Typically I'm vacuuming up needles for a year.
