- Less Damage: A single probe causes less damage to plant roots compared to double or multiple probes, and when you remove the probe after testing, it won't bring out much soil.
- Usage Precautions: Do not use it to test very hard soil. Do not test water or other liquids. After testing, please wipe the probe clean.
Our Experience
Upgraded from my old analog moisture meter to this XLUX digital one and I'm digging it so far. The immediate readings are a game-changer – no more waiting around like with my oldie. I've been using it on my indoor plants and outdoor veggie patch, and it's clear as day whether they're thirsty or not.
The large dial is easy to read too, even from a distance. I like how it shows three zones – dry, moist, wet – instead of just two. It's made me more conscious of when to water my plants, keeping them happy but not overwatered.
My only minor critique? Sometimes the needle gets stuck between moisture levels if I remove and reinsert the probe too quickly. But hey, for $12.99, this XLUX meter is a solid upgrade from my previous gadget. It's accurate, easy to use, and hasn't caused any root damage yet. Thumbs up!

Just received this moisture meter today. So far it works as stated by manufacturer and seller. This will be a valuable tool in my arsenal for happy house plants this winter, once my plants are brought back inside, to prevent over and underwatering. Once I unpacked it, I immediately went to testing it on plants I had just watered, those I knew needed to be watered and those I wasn't quite sure. Very easy to use and accurate. Most indoor plants do better if they are on the drier side, overwatering is the enemy for those nice and very expensive indoor plants you invested in. I didn't know they made these, and my plants are definitely thanking me for this purchase
Got some new banana trees to grow indoors and needed a way to ensure the soil is properly moist. With the large pots they are in it is difficult to determine the actual moisture content from the surface (the pots are at least 12" tall). With these soil moisture meters it is easy to determine the soil moisture at depth in the pots. Just know..... I have gone through a few of these. They last about 2 years and then suddenly stop working (they stay on the "Bone Dry" reading, no matter what). It can be frustrating when you don't realize it at first and are overwatering your plants because of these false readings. But for short-term use, they work fine!
