This is exactly what I needed! I was tired of juggling multiple apps to control my smart lights, and let's not even mention the lag when the internet went down. So, when I heard about TP-Link's Matter Smart Light Switch, I couldn't wait to get my hands on it. After using it for almost a month now, I'm absolutely thrilled. The setup was a breeze thanks to the Tapo app - no more tangled wires or confusing instructions. My neutral wiring was ready, and boom, I was done in under 10 minutes. Since then, it's been smooth sailing. What I love most is how seamlessly it works with all my smart home platforms. No more being locked into one ecosystem. Matter truly lives up to its promise of cross-compatibility.
I had started on my smart home journey many years ago and had initially used Belkin Wemo switches for my light fixtures. The Wemos never worked well, and I had switched them all out a number of years ago, replacing them with TP-Link Kasa switches, which have been trouble free and worked great with both Alexa and the Kasa app. I have 5 Kasa dimmer smart switches and I recently decided to add another one. In my search on Amazon I did find the Kasa switch but also saw that there was a newer model,
I use these in conjunction with a Tapo motion light switch. I haven’t rules set in the Tapo app that turn the bathroom fan on (using this switch) for 5 minutes after the motion light turns off. The app also lets me run this routine during certain time periods. I can also run a fan based on Tapos Humidity, motion or door sensors using the apps rules or Alexa routines. I also have the switch set to run the fan for 5 minutes when pressed. The switch connects well to Alexa. Installation is easy but
Although the instructions for the smart app use could have been clearer and it would have helped if the QR codes had not been at the bottom of the box, the wiring diagram for install was good. The recognition of the switch by the Apple Home app worked seamlessly and the Home app led me through test of install (app made the network connection supplying password etc). Installation of my second switch took 20 minutes or less. I am using sunrise-sunset control (Home app option), working well. I had
FYI this is a switch, not a dimmer! This needs to be made more clear. It's just on or off and uses an internal relay so it can handle more power than a dimmer. This is exactly what I was looking for to control my outdoor floods. When it switches on or off, you hear a little click, which is the relay. You actually want to hear this click! It lets you know it's working. Connected immediately, no problems, found the 2.4 signal that was mixed in with the 5 signal. Not everyone can do that.
These products appear to be quality. They wire up easily if you have black white and copper available wires. Was installed fire up the app walk through the set up process and you’re good to go. Works well with Alexa.
