Compared to pricier options, the Ryobi P611 planer was a steal at just over seventy bucks. It's not heavy-duty by any means, but for my occasional DIY projects, it's been an absolute gem. I've used it on several pieces of pine and oak over the past month, and it handled them like a champ, leaving behind smooth, even surfaces. The 3-1/4" cut depth is plenty deep enough for my needs, and the tool itself feels solid in hand.

One thing I really liked was how easy it was to adjust the cutting depth. The knob turned smoothly, with just enough resistance to know you're making an adjustment. My only minor critique would be that the dust collection could be better - after a few boards, there's quite a bit of debris building up around the tool. But for the price, I can't complain too much. All in all, if you're looking for a reliable, affordable planer for occasional use, this Ryobi is well worth your consideration.
