I got this to grind my spices not for coffee. Right out of the box it worked great. Easy to clean and use. It holds a decent amount of my spices and grinds quickly and efficiently. The lid allows you to see inside so you can see the progress. Design is compact but big enough to get the job done. The value in this product is top notch. I was super excited to buy this product, and figured there was some user error involved at first but since my purchase 6 months ago, I'm a little disappointed. The grinder is quiet compared to most. And the second lid makes a secure fit for easy storage and clean up. It takes far too long to grind to a medium consistency, if it ever gets there.
