Our Experience
Not gonna lie, I almost didn't buy this kid's metal detector kit. I figured it'd be a cheap toy that wouldn't last more than a few outings. But my nephew was visiting and I wanted to give him something fun to do outdoors. So, I took a chance.
I've been pleasantly surprised by how well-built this little detector is. The coil is sturdy, the grip comfortable, and it's even waterproof - they had a blast detecting treasures in the sandbox. The trowel that comes with it is a nice touch too; it made digging up their finds much easier.
On the downside, the discrimination feature was a bit confusing for my 9-year-old nephew to understand at first. He kept picking up every piece of metal, even nails and coins we didn't want.

My grandkids love this. Hours of fun looking for treasures
Bought for my son's 9th birthday. He likes to walk the creek, and beach looking for treasure. This is a great item for the price, I have bought many of national geographic items and they have all been great quality. It has a good weight to it without it being too heavy for kids. He and his friends used it recently at the beach and found all sorts of metal objects, mostly bottle caps, nails, and screws. But at least it helps clean the beach and stop anyone from stepping on a rusty metal object. H
Seems cute. Can’t decide how accurate but kept my daughter busy all day.
For a beginning metal detector it works great! Easy to assemble and the batteries last, not included, hours of fun exploring onSand, in the park or in your back year. It does require a little training to listen for the beeps away from large metal objects!
