I was skeptical at first, expecting a power tool of this price to underdeliver. But after three weeks of using Makita's KP0800K planer on various wood thicknesses and types, I'm impressed. It handled everything from rough 2x4s to delicate oak veneers with ease. The dual-speed feature is a game-changer; it allowed me to take thicker cuts without bogging down the motor.

However, the dust collection could be better. While it's adequate for light use, I found myself cleaning out the housing more frequently than I'd like during heavier projects. Overall though, Makita has delivered a robust, reliable planer that's lived up to its reputation so far.
