The price made me hesitate - $47 seemed steep for an air filter, even one designed to last three months. But my allergies were kicking up, and I was tired of replacing cheap filters every month, so I took a chance on Filtrete's MERV 8.

First off, installation was a breeze; it fit perfectly in my furnace like it was made for it (which, admittedly, it probably was). And the air flow seemed fine - no noticeable difference compared to cheaper brands. My skepticism started fading after just a week; I could actually feel less dust around the house.

However, there's one minor gripe. While the filter says it's "tough on pollen," I found myself replacing it after only two months instead of the promised three. But then again, my allergies were particularly bad this season, so maybe that's to be expected.

All in all, though, I was pleasantly surprised by Filtrete's performance. It's pricier than the generic brands, but if you're willing to invest a bit more for better filtration and longer lasting results, it's definitely worth considering.
