Not gonna lie, I almost didn't buy this Crystala filter. I'd been using GE's original XWFE for years and it was working fine. But when I saw the price of a new one, I figured why not try a compatible filter instead? Plus, they claimed this had a built-in chip to monitor usage - sounded like fancy tech marketing to me.

I installed it myself (it's pretty straightforward), and I have to say, I'm impressed. My tap water in Arizona is hard as nails, but this filter softened it noticeably. It's been almost a month now, and our Brita pitcher doesn't need nearly as many refills. The water has a slight mineral taste still, but that's actually quite refreshing.

My one gripe? The plastic feels a bit cheaper than the GE originals. I've had no issues yet, but time will tell if it holds up. All in all though, for half the price of an official replacement, this Crystala filter is a steal. It's earned its place in our kitchen.
